It takes over 10 000 doggy poo bags every month to ensure a visit to the promenade remains a pleasant, family friendly experience.

These bags are found in 17 dispensers in Mouille Point and 14 in Sea Point, which are all strategically placed for visitors to access while walking their dogs, says Mouille Point Ratepayers’ Association spokesperson Jane Meyer.

The dispensers are refilled daily by the association’s cleansing service provider, Straatwerk, which provides employment for people living on the street.

But now the association is going one step further to keep the promenade green, by rolling out bags made with recycled materials and sponsored by Tuffy. DoggyDo – a mobile app which locates dog friendly restaurants, pet shops, accommodation and more – has also sponsored the bags with dog hotel and day care centre @Fritz.

“We are proud to be associated with all the companies in our endeavour to keep both Mouille Point and Sea Point clean. It has been proved that having less grime certainly reduces the crime!” says Meyer.
