Belhar Dolphins easily defeated their rivals from the Northern Suburbs Kuils River Cougars 15-0 in their Cape Town Softball Association Major League clash on Saturday 9 November.

The run-ahead rule came into effect after only three innings.

The Dolphins offensive line was on song, scoring 10 hits from Melissa Wentzel and stalwart Ursula Esau, sharing the pitching duties for Cougars.

Dawn Allies (3-3) and her daughter Micayla Allies (2-2) were the leading batters for Dolphins.

Berenice Maart also chipped in with two hits, including a double.

Maureen Croza, on the pitching rubber for Dolphins, faced 14 batters, giving up four scattered hits.

In another Major League encounter Westridge Yankees eased to a 12-2 win over current holders, Falcons.

Glenthorn A’s salvaged their first win of the season against a fumbling Tantasport in a Super League clash, also on Saturday.

A’s amassed five runs in the seventh innings to run out 12-5 winners.

They recorded a massive 18 hits off Roxanne Albertyn and Meghan Fillmore, sharing the pitching duties for Tantasport.

Deidré Sassman (3-4), Chante Pepino (3-4) and Courtney Stevens (3-5) led the offensive charge.

For A’s, Lisa Erasmus gave up nine hits, striking out five batters and giving up four free bases.

Stalwart Moses Molaba of Khayelitsha Eagles could not contain the Westridge Yankees batters in the men’s Major League played on Friday 8 November.

With the score tied at 1-1, Alistair Veale stepped up to the plate and cleared Molaba’s fast pitch over the fence. The short break by Khayelitsha while three of their players participated in a Masters European Cup in Barcelona did not do the team any good after their good start to the season.

Molaba, Thuto Makolomakoe and Terence White were guest players for Sweden in the Masters.

They were invited by their local Swedish player, Karl Heljm, who incidentally scored the only RBI against Yankees.
