The Joseph and Carol Seniors Project, based in Strandfontein, hosted its annual Christmas party at the Westridge Civic Centre on Sunday.

The 11th annual luncheon was held for almost 400 seniors from Strandfontein and surrounds.

The event was supported by the provincial minister for social development, Albert Fritz, who was the main speaker.

The lineup included entertainment by local artists and ballroom dancers. Comedian Carl Webber also did an act to keep the seniors entertained.

The three-course meal was sponsored by the seniors project, which raises funds throughout the year to treat the seniors.

“Through this luncheon, we are acknowledging the role and significance of the elderly in all our communities. We honour and respect the good work that they have done and continue to do. Through this small gesture of appreciation we would like to express our gratitude to you, for all the hard work, dedication and commitment,” Joe Pillay said at the event.

Pillay further thanked the residents who supported their fundraising initiatives.
