Elect new

Four new sector Community Policing Forum (CPF) subforums will be elected this week.

The Lentegeur police sectors 2, 3, 4 and 5 will hold their subforum elections in various locations on Thursday 22 February at 19:00. Residents are invited to attend to either stand for elections on the subforum or to vote for the executive representatives.

Constable Shaun Abrahams, Lentegeur police spokesperson, says the meeting is open to all residents.

“Everyone who wants to run for election from the community at large are encouraged to run and submit applications. Not only neighbourhood watch members can run now as there is a completely different standing order for elections of subforums now. All are free to apply. Sector commanders have also done pamphleteering drives to encourage residents to register and work with police. Residents who have not registered to run for the executive can still vote even if they do not stand for elections,” he says. Applications closed last week Friday.

Following the elections, the station commander Colonel Herman Seals will hold a community imbizo to identify a steering committee, on Thursday 1 March, who will help to initiate CPF elections.Sector 2
