The False Bay Gardening Expo and Flower Show, organised by the Fish Hoek Garden Club, is a bit different this year.
In addition to the usual plants, flowers, fruit, vegetables and flower arrangements, visitors can talk to stallholders offering garden-related projects, including information on composting and atmospheric water manufacturing, water-wise ideas and plants, floral art and paintings.
Considering the drought, the club’s management decided that something different is called for this year.
The club has held its annual flower show in the civic centre for more than 50 years.
Opening its doors at 09:30 on Saturday 7 October it will be a treat for the whole family.
Entrance costs R10 for adults, children under 16 get in free.
Refreshments will be available.
Gardeners can enter their prize plants – be they fern, orchid, succulent, fruit or vegetable. Gardeners don’t have to belong to the club to exhibit but only members may receive trophies. Children’s exhibits are welcome.
Bookings close on Thursday 5 October at 20:00.
Guides and Brownies will also use the opportunity to obtain their garden lover’s badges. V To book call the club secretary on 021 785 2386 or 076 662 3500.
