A record number of entries is expected for this year’s Tyger Run/Walk, presented by TygerBurger, Tyger Valley Centre and Tygerberg 104fm. TygerBurger is People’ Post sister publication.The event is taking place on Thursday 21 March, Human Rights Day. Runners can choose between a half marathon over 21.1km or a 10km run, whilst joggers and walkers can participate in the fun walk over 6km. Discovery Vitality is on board once again and Vitality members will earn bonus points for participating in the biggest road race in Cape Town’s northern suburbs. All three distances will be timed electronically.Registration and number collection will take place on Wednesday 20 March at the food court at Tyger Valley Shopping Centre. No entries will be accepted at number collection or on race day.Apart from the cash prizes up for grabs, all participants automatically qualify for the lucky draw during the prize giving ceremony. This year the race beneficiary is It’s Amazing ZT, who will receive a portion of each entry. It’s Amazing ZT strives to create an alternative society in the battered communities in the Cape Flats, including Heideveld, Gugulethu, Hanover Park and Khayelitsha. They provide key community support and offer much needed educational programmes for children at risk. Participants can add to this donation via the online entry form. Participants can also enter at any of the following Sportsman’s Warehouse stores: Canal Walk, Rondebosch, Sea Point, Somerset West, Tokai, Tyger Valley and West Coast. Entry forms are also available at Tyger Valley’s centre management and at the info kiosks in the centre. In-store entries close Sunday 10 March and online entries will be accepted until Wednesday 13 March.
