Extra access lane into Cape Point coming

2016-02-02 06:00

Construction has started on an additional entrance lane and facilities at Cape Point’s main gate.

The gate will remain open, but visitors may experience minor delays on entering the park.

It is not anticipated that there will be any interruptions to services as a result of the work being undertaken.

The road upgrade is the first of a number of projects currently being rolled out in the Cape Point section of Table Mountain National Park, to upgrade infrastructure and services.

Projects currently underway include the upgrade to the sewerage treatment plant, 4km of road repairs, additional water storage capacity and an additional entrance lane and building at the main gate.

In addition, one-way stop-and-go traffic is currently in place throughout the Cape Point road leading to the lighthouse due to the road upgrade. Visitors can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
