‘Fake cops’ on the run after robbery

2019-02-26 06:01

Police are looking for three men who robbed a cellphone shop at gunpoint in Strand Street on Saturday 26 January. It is alleged that six suspects, who identified themselves as police officers, entered the shop and claimed to be searching for drugs. Before they could exit the shop, police said one of them dropped a bag containing cash. They then fled the scene. Three of the suspects were later arrested after they were identified on CCTV footage. Police are still looking for the remaining three suspects.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of these men can contact their nearest police station or call Detective Sergeant Vuyolwethu Mbona on 021 918 3860 or 082 411 2602.
