Police have recovered a hijacked car traced back to an address in Macassar.

Police received the complaint on Saturday 20 January at 16:30, when the owner of a white Hyundai truck stopped at a red robot in Wespoort Drive, Portlands.
As he stopped, the man saw a car pull up behind him, with a second car stopping next to him.

The car that pulled up next to him had blue lights and a siren, and the occupants instructed him to pull over.

The victim noticed that the occupants were not police officers, but the suspects managed to force him to stop.

They pointed firearms at him, got the keys and drove off.

The man was transporting cigarettes.

Police later found the truck abandoned in Macassar.
Police received information on one of the suspected vehicles, a white Ford Focus, which was traced to an address in Macassar. Police found two vehicle licence plates inside the house and saw that a blue light, sirens and a loudhailer had been built into the car.

Police arrested four men aged 33, 28, 33 and 31.

The matter is being investigated by the Provincial Anti-hijacking Unit.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking and armed robbery.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon and more charges are expected to follow.
