The Athlone police in partnership with West End and the Lincoln New Apostolic Church in Athlone held a family fun day on Saturday 30 November.

“The fun day coincided with the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign and was spent with games and fun for all,” says Sgt Zita Norman, spokesperson for Athlone police.

She engaged with the children and explained to them what the 16 Days campaign meant.

Parents could watch their kids in a safe space and men and women could bond, respect and value their partners.

“By showing the parents how to respect each other, they can create happy families which could help to build happy communities,” Norman says.

“With an ever-changing world, all parents should be good role models to their children thus taking the lead engaging other parents with positive relationships. By loving and caring we can make our women and children live and enjoy a safe and happy life,” she says.
