“I have always been blessed because I have always made a space in my heart for those who had less than I had,” says CJ Jackson, founder of the Kairos Winter Wonderland to be held in Kenilworth on Saturday 14 July.

Jackson is due to hold his second annual fundraising event for charity. This year he has chosen Heart of Hope as his beneficiary and aims to raise about R100 000.

The fundraising event will take the form of a fashion show at Kenilworth Racecourse. He will be working with various developing fashion designers and hopes to receive the support of residents across Cape Town.

While giving exposure to the young designers, the event will also raise awareness about congenital heart disease (CHD), one of the conditions affecting beneficiaries of Heart of Hope.

“This is close to my heart because a church friend suffers from CHD, and this is all about giving back through a fashion show, something I love. I will also be providing a platform for local designers to be able to showcase their work.

“I grew up in a household that always gave back with the little we had. My mother instilled in me that the little you have is to plant into someone’s life. It is in my heart to provide a platform for those who have not had their breakthrough.”

Referring to the success of last year’s show, where he created a similar platform for models, he says: “The show has been able to open doors for local designers, models and musicians.”

Among Jackson’s partners are Carleto Carloni, High Definition, Curvy Chic ZA, Nadia B Designs, CK Chic, Valencia Harrison Designs, Gthing Brand and The Local Designers.

The show starts at 19:00 and tickets are available through Quicket at either R150 for general access or R250 for VIP access.
