Dollars Fast Food in Salt River is closed following a fire at the take-away kitchen this morning (Thursday 31 August) at about 06:18.
Theo Layne, City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue spokesperson, says the fire was caused by a faulty short circuit.
“Two fire engines, one rescue vehicle and one hydraulic platform responded. The fire was extinguished and the building ventilated by 07:30 No injuries were reported.”
He says other parts of the building sustained smoke and water damage and no one was injured in the fire.
The shop owner, Nazier Narker, says it is a huge loss for him. He says he is in no state to talk about it at the moment. It is unclear when the establishment will re-open
