The bodies of all four missing teenagers have been sent to the government health forensic pathology services after the fourth body was recovered in Sea Point this morning (Wednesday 27 November).

The teenagers, between the ages of 15 and 18 years, were reportedly swept off by heavy currents while visiting Rocklands beach in Sea Point on Sunday 24 November.

According to reports, a police dive unit supported by a Cape Town fire and rescue services technical rescue team, Sea Point police, and law enforcement has been working together in recovering the bodies, which were recovered one-by-one.

A statement from the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says the fourth body was found this morning (Wednesday 27 November) and an inquest docket has been opened at the Sea Point police station.

“This office can confirm that a case of the inquest is investigated into the drowning of four teenagers at sea at Rocklands Beach, Sea Point. The teenagers came to the beach at Rocklands and ended up in trouble when swept off the rocks by the ocean. They were not surfers,” says Sea Point police station commander, Lt Col Helena Mouton.
