Two motor vehicles were damaged after a fire broke out at Gatesville Shopping Centre in Athlone on Tuesday 6 November.

According to a witness, Warren Adams, two “tik koppe” were lying under two pallets covered with blankets when the fire started shortly after 13:00.

“There were two tik koppe sleeping there and a fire, which shortly ignited, took place in the parking lot,” he said.

Athlone police spokesperson, Sergeant Zita Norman confirmed the incident, but said nobody reported it.

“We do not have any information on this, but we are aware of a fire that took place.

“Nobody reported it to the police station,” she says.

Nobody was injured in the fire and the cause of it is unknown.
