Firing for Armed Forces Day

The SA Naval Museum will fire a nine-inch rifled muzzle loader cannon on Thursday 21 February at 12:00 to observe and commemorate Armed Forces Day. Access to the Battery is via Dido Valley Road. From Fish Hoek, turn right at Harbour Bay Mall, then first left towards NBCD School and second left again. Follow the concrete road down to Maritime Reaction Squadron (MRS) where parking will be available.

In the event of a road closure/detour, continue past Harbour Bay Mall and take the Redhill Road M 66 (M 65) Scarborough turn-off. Near the top of the mountain, turn right into Scala Road. Continue past Scala Battery No. 1 Gun, Scala Barracks Mess and NBCD School, turning sharp right and down to Maritime Reaction Squadron. Spectators are requested to be present by 11:30 sharp.
