Five suspects wanted for business robbery

Lansdowne police are looking for five men involved in a business robbery that occurred at Lansdowne Fruit Market last Wednesday.

According to Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka, spokesperson for Lansdowne Police Station, the incident took place at 21:20 when a group of unknown men entered the Lansdowne Road store.

“The complainant was located inside the shop when a regular customer entered.

“A few minutes after the customer entered, five other men entered the shop with firearms. The suspects demanded that the complainant and the customer lay on the floor, and then kicked them.

“The suspects requested the PIN of the airtime machine and then ripped off the camera, which was recording CCTV footage,” he explains.

The suspects stole cigarettes and cash amounting to R50 000 before locking the complainant and the customer inside a room.

Mnyaka confirms no shots were fired and no-one was injured.

A case of business robbery is currently under investigation. No arrests have been made as yet.
