Police are hunting for five men wanted for a murder in Burwood Road, Crawford.

A 45-year-old resident was shot and killed on Monday 7 November at about 22:05, confirms Lansdowne police spokesperson Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka.

“Noorudien Hassan was shot and fatally wounded in front of his house in Burwood Road, Crawford. The deceased was declared dead at Kingsbury Hospital after being transported by his friend who witnessed the incident,” Mnyaka says

“According to the witness he and Hassan were outside the house looking at the garden and then went to sit in the witness’s vehicle. A white Colt double cab bakkie without a canopy pulled off on the opposite side. An unknown man came out, carrying a pistol, to the passenger side where Hassan was sitting,” Mnyaka explains.

He says the killer then started to shoot at them through the passenger door window.

The witness says he “got out of the vehicle and ran for his life”.

“Several shots were [fired at the witness] but missed.

“The murderers then drove off in the direction of Kromboom Road. There were five suspects in the Colt bakkie,” Mnyaka says.

Hassan sustained four bullet wounds – two to the head and the other two to the left side of his body.

Hassan was a well-known attorney who had many high-profile criminal cases, including defending high-profile gangsters.

The motive behind the killing is unknown at this stage.

A case of murder and attempted murder was opened for investigation.

No arrests have yet been made.
