Four social work students doing their practicals at the Beaconvale Community Frailcare Centre organised events to raise awareness on the centre’s needs.

On Saturday 19 August, the centre held an open day and during last week, the students also organised an election for a residents’ committee, an awareness funwalk for some of the wheelchair-bound residents and a nappy drive.

Various people from the surrounding area donated to the drive and participated in the initiative.

The initiative was supported by the Beacon Valley safety structures, the Mitchell’s Plain Network Opposing Abuse, local police and Metro Police.

Facility Manager, Raymond Mitchell, and board chairperson and ward councillor, Solomon Philander, opened the event.
