Police from the anti-gang unit (AGU) embarked on an intelligence-led operation on Friday 4 October in Lavender Hill, where they seized four firearms as well as rounds of ammunition.

The first arrest took place at a house in Botha Street. Armed with information, officers arrested a 51-year-old woman and seized a 9mm pistol with rounds of ammunition.

Shortly thereafter, in Grindle Avenue, a 31-year-old man was arrested with another 9mm pistol and ammunition.

More information led the team to the third location, also in Grindle Avenue, where they found a .38 special revolver with ammunition and arrested a 45-year-old man.

Information from this operation, led the AGU to De Waal Court where an 18-year-old man was found in possession of another 9mm pistol and ammunition.

All four arrested suspects are believed to be linked to a local gang.
