Four ‘attack’ suspect

2017-02-28 06:00

Four people have been arrested for allegedly carrying out a revenge attack on a suspected robber.

Mitchell’s Plain police saw a naked man walking in Portlands on Monday afternoon last week. He had been assaulted.

The man had apparently been walking in St Helena Street when a group of people started to chase him.

“He ran into one of the houses, but they chased him and pulled him out of the house and began hitting him. They dragged him into a white Toyota standing in the road,” says police spokesperson Captain Ian Williams.

The attackers wanted to put him in the boot, but when he refused they attacked him with a wheel brace.

“They managed to force him into the car drove to a house in Boston Street where they took him inside and undressed him and continued to assault him with a pick axe handle and the wheel brace. The attackers also shocked the victim with electricity,” says Williams. “The victim was later chased out of the house naked and he walked in the street where he was found by police.”

The motive for the attack is apparently revenge as it is alleged the victim had earlier robbed one of the attackers.

Two men – aged 33 and 34 – and two women – aged 16 and 45 – were arrested. They face charges of kidnapping, attempted murder, robbery and possession of stolen property. The car was confiscated by police.

V Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the investigating officer, detective Sergeant Errol Bedford of the Mitchell’s Plain serious and violent crimes unit on 021 370 1782.
