Four people were left injured on Sunday (23 April) when a taxi crashed into a wall on Strand Street in the Cape Town CBD.

According to a report from ER24 paramedics, they arrived on the scene and found the taxi in the left-hand lane of the road.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring says on closer inspection, paramedics found one woman lying next to the taxi while three other were found seated inside.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that a man and woman had sustained critical injuries. A third patient, a woman, had sustained serious injuries while the fourth, a man, had sustained only moderate injuries. Fire services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free one of the patients, who was trapped.”

Once freed, he says, paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support. The patients were transported to Groote Schuur Hospital and Life Vincent Palotti Hospital for urgent treatment.

“The cause of the collision is not yet know but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” he says.
