Free parenting workshop

2018-10-23 06:00

Lansdowne-based organisation Islamic Relief will host a free parenting workshop tomorrow afternoon, with acclaimed international speaker Maryam Lemu.

The workshop will take place at the Academia Auditorium located on the premises of Islamia College in Imam Haron Road with a special focus on parenting in the modern age.

Lemu, a Nigerian scholar and motivational speaker, is an accomplished facilitator of seminars and workshops in the areas of public speaking, team building, leadership and personal development.

She is also an international consultant to private schools based on her strong commitment to character development, social responsibility and values-driven leadership, says Shanaaz Ebrahim, media spokesperson for Islamic Relief.

Ebrahim says the informative workshop will benefit the parents in attendance, with a special focus on how to deal with daily family issues.

“Social media has made information more readily available to children. However, this information is not always filtered and young children are exposed to social issues and lifestyle choices that may not be in line with their own family and religious values.

“This workshop aims to provide parents and guardians with practical solutions in dealing with these challenges. It will also provide useful tools on how to improve communication with your child. The event is open to all,” says Ebrahim.

Doors open at 19:00 and the programme will start at 19:30 sharp. Interested individuals are urged to arrive on time.
