In the mood for empowerment?

YoungPeople@Work, an organisation empowering unemployed youth to access decent employment, is hosting a free youth empowerment week at Grassroots in Athlone on May 24, 25 and 26 May. Participants will be trained in professional job seeking, basic office admin and bookkeeping skills. A free intro to computers will be presented. Sessions start at 09:00. Workshops are free for the unemployed and R50 for the employed.

Participants will learn how to search for jobs professionally, develop a powerful CV and to be aware of what companies are looking for. Under basic bookkeeping skills they will learn about the double entry system, record keeping, handling cheques and online banking, receipts, reading bank statements, reconciliations, reporting, and petty cash.
