Fun, food for kids on holiday

2017-07-25 06:01

About 200 children from New LentegeurNew Lentegeur is the area’s name. But if lead story over head should read Lentegeur only enjoyed a morning of fun at Plumbago Park as part of a school holiday programme.

The event was organised by community worker Valerie Phillips and featured informative talks on gangsterism, domestic abuse, an anti-bullying campaign and how to save water. The children also had fun and games.

The children were also fed and kept entertained from 10:00 to 14:00.

The organisers would like to thank Abubaker Dramat and the volunteers for making the food.

The children met Ricardo Mackenzie, a member of the provincial parliament who brought them gifts for their participation.

Mackenzie is the constituency head for Mitchell’s Plain and contributed to several school holiday programmes last week.

On Thursday he also visited the ward 75 programme in Northwood Hall to hand out party packets and doughnuts, which he also took to the ward 76 programme in New Lentegeur.
