Children came out to play in the safety of their own spaces at an initiative arranged by local safety partners.

The Lentegeur Community Policing Forum sector 5 subforum hosted a come and play event in partnership with the Lentegeur Police on Saturday.

The event also commemorated World Aids Day observed annually on 1 December.

The event was held at the Bond Street park in London Village from 14:00.

Rashmiya Lucas of the subforum says: “[The event] was World Aids Day awareness and also some fun games for the kids. Our kids need to be aware of a safe environment to play in and also be aware that the men in blue are also the good guys that they can turn to for help and not be afraid of them. The kids received small gifts for participating and were treated to a hotdog, coke and party packets. They are our kids, my child is your child and vise versa. We definitely would want to have more fun days throughout the year and grow the event with more activities.”

There was a host of fun activities including water slides and games.
