In celebration of a school’s 40th anniversary, hundreds of runners joined a unique race.

Dubbed the Westridge High School colour fun run, the 5km and 8km races were organised by the Westridge High School athletics club.

The run ended at the school with a food fair that celebrated culture and the anniversary.

Andre Rix, teacher and event director, heads up the athletic club and is an avid runner.

The winners of the run were Granwin Katzen, Emiele Paulsen, Ashley Smith and Cameron du Toit, with finishing times ranging between 24 and 26 minuets.

The event was the first of its kind for the school.
