Crossfire in gang conflict in Manenberg has seen a 12-year-old boy shot and injured.
Manenberg police spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, says that the shooting incident took place at Peta Court on Monday evening.
He adds that the boy was hit in the back by a stray bullet after which he was rushed to Heideveld Emergency Centre for medical treatment. It is not known who fired the shots or why.
“Gangs continue to fire random shots, not caring who is in the line of fire,” says Brigadier Enolium Joseph, Manenberg Police Station commander, who urges the community to report gang activity.
Bennett says reiterates that Manenberg police are calling on the community to take a stand and report crime.
“Anyone with information leading to the successful arrest and confiscation of illegal ammunition and firearms will be financially rewarded,” he says.
