A lengthy investigation against a 29-year-old man from Parkwood was worth the effort for the Grassy Park Serious and Violent Crimes team.

Grassy Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith says Desmond Maneville, an “alleged gangster affiliated to the American gang”, was sentenced to an effective ten years in prison last week.

He was found guilty of attempted murder after a shooting in August 2013.

Grassy Park police station commander Colonel Shawn van Wyk expressed his gratitude to the team for their investigation and their commitment to the fight against crime.
