New Living Hope, a non-profit organisation in Retreat, is overwhelmed with gratitude for the donations that they continue to receive so they can help those that need them most.

Following an article published in People’s Post (“Help trickles in for seniors”, 30 January), donations for wheelchairs and walkers came streaming in

Co-founder of the NPO, Elrich Herman, says they have received many generous donations that they will give to those who are struggling most.

“We received in total five wheelchairs, four walkers, crutches and bedpans and so much more to assist our seniors at Village Care and Aged Centre in Lavender Hill. We have donated wheelchairs to those who really needed them and could even donate one of the wheelchairs to a little boy who has a growth in his head and is not able to walk. He was totally dependent on his grandmother to carry him where he needed to be and help him move around. He was so happy and kept saying ‘thank you’ and smiling. He was so overjoyed and couldn’t wait to try it out. His grandmother was overwhelmed and cried with joy. This little boy lives in our area, in Lakeview,” he says.

Herman says they are extremely happy to be able to assist people in need, not only seniors but also disabled children.

“We would like to thank the people for their donations and with the extras we get we would also like to assist other organisations that help disabled kids and seniors. Together we can continue to help others. Thank you to everyone who supports our organisation and the work that we are doing,” he says.
