Learners of Zonnebloem Girls’ Primary School were motivated to embrace education, and improve learning skills, in a special programme at the school last week.

Changing lives and cultivating talents were the themes of the two-hour motivational programme presented by the B-All Training Academy.

Bradley de Kock, founder of the academy, says it was a roller coaster ride of learning as the topics of memory, language and numeracy were explored.

“Learners were provided with skills that helped them to process schoolwork,” he says.

“They were taught how to remember, retrieve and retain important information, especially when studying. The importance of language development was also emphasised in terms of reading and learning new words, thus building a solid vocabulary.”

Tanya Rhône, principal of the school, says the learners really enjoyed the experience.

“We need to do things differently to make our learners aware of their potential and this programme has opened their eyes to their potential,” she says.

“The learners were excited and have learned many new things to help them in their scholastic pursuits.”

De Kock says he would love to take his project to more schools because helping one child at a time makes all the difference in the world.

“Our programme is all about cultivating and developing good school habits,” he says.

“We focus on teaching them to listen more and speak less during lessons as well as the importance of getting proper sleep. If you are tired it is difficult to focus.

“There’s also the need for them to know about proper nutrition and exercise as well as learning about life skills like making friends and taking up positive hobbies like reading.

“We do all this in a fun way so learners get the message of the importance of embracing education.

“We would like to take it to more schools who want to motivate their learners.”
