Glendene United FC trump D&G Orient in feast of goals

Glendene United subjected D&G Orient to their 11th defeat of the season when they beat them 6-3 in an ABC Motsepe League match played in Manenberg on Saturday.

Trailing 3-1, Glendene United took control of the encounter to walk away with all three log points to climb to sixth place in the overall standings, having played 19 matches to date. Glendene United next travel to face Atlantic Nacional on Saturday, while D&G Orient host Ajax Cape Town’s youth team at 15:00, also on Saturday.

In other action, The Magic FC beat Atlantic Nacional 2-1 at their home ground at the Old Mutual sports grounds on Friday night.

The win ensured that the Pinelands-based team remain in third position in the standings on 38 points after 19 matches played.

They will face a trip to Lansdowne on Friday night to face Santos.

Meanwhile, Santos themselves could only muster a 2-2 draw away to Hout Bay United FC. The result means that the two teams remained in ninth and fifth places on the log respectively.
