Graffiti artist wows audience

2019-06-11 06:01

Chad Hanning, a graffiti artist from Cape Town did a live installation of a Jurassic Park themed mural in Braamfontein.

The show was in collaboration with Sneaker LAB and DigsConnect.

Sneaker LAB is the world’s first environmentally friendly sneaker care product. DigsConnect is the largest student accommodation marketplace.

Hanning, who paints under the name Bushy, incorporated both the brands in his mural by taking the signature elements and created “The Lab meets the Jurassic era”. He achieved that by finding inspiration from the iconic lab scene in Jurassic Park.

As part of the collaboration, Hanning designed t-shirts and a special design for custom Sneaker LAB product.

He grew up in Mitchell’s Plain and started his street art journey at the age of 14 and since then his work has always been inspired by music, relationships and bringing together the youth. His love for cartoons and vector illustrations is clear in his work and he embraces vibrant and playful creativity.

Hanning’s work can be found on walls as far as Vietnam, and more locally in Villiersdorp and the Cape Town suburbs of Woodstock, Salt River and Gardens among others. He was also featured at this year’s Design Indaba Festival as an Emerging Creative.

“The message of street art is where its power lies. It gives a place a feeling; brings it to life. My artwork and light themes allow the viewer to break away from the harsh realities of life for a moment,” says Hanning.
