Growing the green ‘army’

Seeding Futures is offering 25 young people in Cape Town the opportunity to equip themselves with Permaculture Design Skills on a personal, household and neighbourhood level.

A non-governmental organisation based in Mitchell’s Plain is running the Seeding Futures Climate Change Resilience Youth Action Training Programme for youth in the Cape Flats.

The 14-week, fully-funded training programme has been designed, written, piloted and refined with input from some of the pioneering thinkers, activists and practitioners working for positive change in South Africa today.

They are committed to inspiring and supporting people to make the change towards more sustainable ways of living. The programme runs from Mitchell’s Plain, with job shadows in local enterprises.

The certificate they are given is internationally recognised and will connect them to the growing green sector and could enable them to start their own business, consulting and designing permaculture gardens for clients, as well as advising on permaculture principles to organisations, such as businesses as well as government agencies.

People interested in growing their career in a green profession, connecting with others who want to make a positive difference in their lives or passionate about making a difference in their community and country can call Marliese on 082 413 4907.
