A joint effort with security providers, neighbourhood watch patrollers, community operation room and Diep River police foiled an attempted armed robbery on Friday 3 June.

Combat force patroller noticed a grey Mercedes Benz, with four suspicious men inside, at a nearby shop before closing. The patroller alerted police using the community radio.

The vehicle was pulled over and all four occupants were searched.

The driver had a prosthetic leg and inside the leg officers found hidden a 9mm pistol with the serial number filled off, this was seized by police and sent away for a ballistic analysis.

Another suspect was checked and found wanted on an armed robbery case and is currently also suspected on a murder case.

The suspects were detained at Diep River for further investigation.
