Grassy Park police nabbed two suspects on Friday afternoon, after four firearms and ammunition were found in Parkwood.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says the arrest came at about 13:00 today (18 November).

“Grassy Park crime prevention officers were busy with crime prevention duties in the Parkwood area when they received information that firearms are stored at an address in Falcon Way and that the firearms were about to be removed from that premises. Members then went to said address,” Van Wyk says.

After searching the premises they found a 12 gauge shotgun, three .38 special handguns, 12 .45 rounds, 21 shotgun rounds and ten .38 special rounds. All firearms have serial numbers, police confirmed.

Two men aged 34 and 48 were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of ammunition.

They will appear on related charges in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once charged.

Anyone with information on crime in the Grassy Park area is kindly requested to contact the police station on 021 700 3940 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated as highly confidential.
