Hanover Park residents took to the streets on Tuesday (25 April) to express their unhappiness after women were hit by stray bullets following a shooting between rival gangs.

Philippi police spokesperson, Captain Lance Goliath, says the aim of the peaceful picket was to make residents aware of the crime situation and to make a plea to police and local government to step up their involvement in fighting crime.

“Police kept a watchful eye and after picketing the participants dispersed peacefully. No negative incidents were reported. Police will maintain a zero tolerance approach in combating crime,” says Goliath.
