Muizenberg’s most photogenic dog has been named.

Harry, a year-old Boston terrier, recently won the Best Dog Photo competition in the Muizenberg Festival Dog Show, which took place in October.

The competition ran until Wednesday last week, with the winner announced on Thursday.

Not only is Harry photogenic, he has also adapted to living with a disability.

Harry’s owner, Mariam Theunissen, says she entered the competition “just for fun” to support a good cause, as all proceeds are donated to the Mdzananda Animal Welfare Clinic and Animal Welfare Society Philippi.

She submitted the photo of him at the beach as it is one of her favourites.

“I just love this picture,” she says.

Harry is not often let off his lease when in public, as he is deaf and “can’t be called back”, Theunissen explains.

He was diagnosed as deaf at four months old, after a series of tests confirmed that he was born without hearing.

“He doesn’t know any differently so it’s not a big challenge. He responds to hand signals,” she explains.

Harry is also very playful and loves meeting other dogs and spending time with his toys, Theunissen say.

Harry has won a voucher from @Frits dog hotel, a toy and leash from Foxy Dog Toys and treats from Paw4More and As Nature Intended.
