In a bid to recognise the contributions of a local, ward 78 councillor Eddie Andrews handed over a small token of appreciation last week.

Andrews acknowledged Riedewaan Johnson – known as Waanie – a resident in the ward who assists solid waste collectors every Friday morning.

Johnson, who is differently-abled, spends his time rallying all the wheelie bins in the community, ready for collection.

Johnson received a City of Cape Town hat, a pair of gloves and a reflective bib as a token of appreciation and to further aid in his weekly good deed to the community.

Although differently-abled, he says he enjoys serving his community in this way.
