Heideveld family left grieving after fire

The City’s Fire and Rescue Service is yet to determine the cause of a fire that razed a home in Heideveld on Tuesday morning, claiming the life of a man.

Spokesperson for the City’s Fire and Rescue Service, Theo Layne, says they responded to a residential dwelling on fire in Groenberg Road, Heideveld at 05:26.

Layne adds that the fire was extinguished by 06:38.

The home was completely destroyed. One man died while another was treated for minor burns.

“Two fire engines, a water tanker as well as a rescue vehicle were dispatched from Epping, Gugulethu and Mitchell’s Plain fire stations respectively.”
