Heideveld Female Football Academy defeated Ocean View Ladies 9-0 in a Safa Cape Town regional women’s league-opening encounter played at Heideveld on Saturday.

The host team was dominant throughout the game and outplayed the visiting team with brilliant ball manoeuvres.

In the 25th minute Kim Cloete gave Heideveld a solid lead after she scored from a dribbling through pass from her twin centre forward Maliekah May. The combination of the two strikers was superb and inflicted more wounds to the lacklustre visitors.

In the 30th minute it was May who strengthened her team’s grip on the pitch with an excellent solo goal.

At the beginning of the second half, the hosts continued with their winning spirit and were awarded a penalty after Lameez Skippers fouled the ball with her hands.

Ashne Combrinck netted for Heideveld in the 50th minute. German player Ronja Hoepfner, in her debut appearance, scored for Heideveld in the 65th minute.

Although the visitors’ goalkeeper, Jamie-Lee Rubain, put up a fight against the fearsome Heideveld strikers, she crumbled under the onslaught.

The Heideveld women were running amok, with May and Combrinck each scoring hat tricks, looking as if they were in a class of their own. Fazlin Adams also netted for the hosts from another team build-up.

In another Safa regional women’s league fixture on the day, CPUT Ladies hammered Ambassadors Ladies 5-0 at CPUT Bellville.

The students were in full command of the class and rattled their opponents with whiplash agility. With home turf advantage they steered the flow of the game after the visitors couldn’t match their composure.

Yonathi Ndleleni netted twice with her golden skills, Siyasanga Gibson twice with her hunger for more and Vuyisenka Nkqenkga minutes before the end.

In an exhilarating regional women’s league derby Lavender Hill FC narrowly defeated Milano 1-0 in Grassy Park on Saturday.

Host Lavender were in full command from the start. The visitors failed to settle in.

Kerry-Anne Voster sealed the victory for the home side with a long volley drive.

FC Tafelzicht Ladies whipped RV United Ladies 4-1 in their encounter played in Mitchell’s Plain.

The hosts were determined to collect all three points. They secured it by thrashing the visiting rivals.

Sabierah Haliem, Nabeelah Galant, Miskah Arendse and Rolanda Emery scored for the Plain women whilst Vanessa Mbasxa netted for the visitors.
