Help change the face of Fish Hoek

2018-02-06 06:00

Revamp the Valley, founded in April last year as a community group in Fish Hoek Valley, is now a registered non-profit organisation.

This month the organisation will launch its 2018 programme of activities aimed at helping to build a strong, intergenerational and multicultural community democracy in the Fish Hoek Valley, says Revamp the Valley founder and director, Leigh Barrett.

“We can no longer and sit and wait for that someone else to improve our environment.

“We must all roll up our sleeves to create the community and future we want,” she says.

The organisation’s theme for this year is “Do One Thing” and projects range from beautifying common spaces through a parks project in collaboration with African Earth Rights, to supporting local artists in revamping public buildings.

One of the buildings identified for such as project is the Fish Hoek Fire Station.

Revamp the Valley director, Cathy Dipnall, calls on all community members to get involved in their projects and “actively help build a valley that will be known for its sense of community, environmental pride and forward thinking”.
