Help find U Save robbers

2018-04-10 06:01

Grassy Park police are seeking assistance in locating two men who are wanted in connection with a robbery at the Shoprite U Save store in Grassy Park. According to Grassy Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith, police were alerted to the robbery at 18:00 on Thursday after two men came into the shop, pretending to want to buy something.

“The security guard informed them that they were closed and just helping the last customers. The suspects then asked the security guard to buy them a cold drink and handed a R20 note to him, and as he walked away he heard a gunshot. The suspects entered the shop, threatened the cashiers with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot,” she says.

Anyone with more information that can assist in bringing the perpetrators to book is asked to call the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Sicelo Bongashe, on 021 700 3908 or 083 392 0673.

“Police are further appealing to the broader community to get involved in the reward system. This system allows any adult member of the community to become proactively involved in the prevention of crime. Crime and criminals can be reported and a reward could be received by the reporter,” adds Kleinsmith.

V Anyone with information on crime can call Crime Stop on 0860 010 111. All information will be treated as highly confidential.
