The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is appealing to the public to assist in locating 29-year-old Rezaah van Reenen, who is being sought for vehicle finance fraud.

According to Hawks spokesperson Captain Philani Nkwalase, Van Reenen was initially arrested in Grassy Park in May 2016 for his alleged involvement in transactions related to apparent fraudulent vehicle finance valued at R1.2m in June 2015.

“Fraudulent supporting documents including payslips and bank statements were used in these transactions.

The Cape Town Regional Court provisionally withdrew charges against Van Reenen at his first appearance pending the finalisation of the investigation. A warrant of arrest was issued for Van Reenen after efforts to inform him that the matter was reinstated on the court roll failed,” says Nkwalase.

V Anyone with information that could lead to Van Reenen’s arrest should call the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Nico Heerschap, on 071 481 5080.
