Police in Grassy Park need help to identify bodies found in the area last year.

In the first incident on 23 October last year officers were called out to Rondevlei Nature Reserve where a decomposed body had been found in the bushes.

No identification was found with the body that was dressed in blue jeans, a brown jacket, a grey and white Guess hoody top and green and black Nike takkies.

In another incident on 29 October officers found a decapitated body in the bushes of the Zeekoevlei reserve. This body was clothed in a blue tracksuit, a brown jacket and black pants.

Three months later a head was found in the same area and linked to the body.

Grassy Park police spokesperson Constable Carol Strauss says they need the public’s help to identify these bodies.

“It is important that we try to identify these persons because their families should be informed,” she says.

Strauss adds that police in the area are also urging neighbourhood watch members to be vigilant while on patrol.

“Our aim is also to get more street and court committees to be actively involved in the fight against crime.

“We also want people to be more aware of the reward system to fight crime. This system allows any adult member of the community to become pro-active in the prevention of crime. Crime and criminals can be reported and the informant can be rewarded.”

All information is treated as highly confidential.V Report all crime to 086 001 0111. Anyone with information on the bodies can call detective Sergeant Ricardo Goldsmith on 073 786 9205 or 021 700 3900.
