Help needed in case of man shot to death

Steenberg police are pleading with members of the community to help them solve a murder.

While police were patrolling in the area on Sunday 8 February they heard gunshots.

They rushed to Depsiton Crescent where they found Shagmie Bredekamp (25) from St Cecilia Street in Lavender Hill lying in a yard.

He died from a gunshot to his chest at Groote Schuur Hospital.

No cartridges were found on the scene.

Warrant Officer John Bartlett, a police spokesperson, says it is alleged that Bredekamp was with someone at the time of the shooting.

“A case of murder was opened for investigation. We are requesting the assistance of community members in this matter,” he says.V Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Eugene Prins, on 082 411 4150 or Steenberg police on 021 702 9000.
