Hijackers nabbed cruising in stolen car

Four men have been arrested following a hijacking in Mandalay on Saturday 11 June.

The victim stopped his car in De Bussy Crescent at around 20:00 when the four men approached him with a gun.

The suspects demanded his wallet, cellphone and the car. The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s bronze Kia Picanto. No shots were fired.

A Mitchell’s Plain police reservist reacted immediately and started to search for the motor vehicle based on the description given. The suspects were found driving around in Tafelsig, and when they were stopped, the vehicle was found to be the hijacked car.

The suspects, aged between 23 and 32, were arrested and have since appeared in court.
