Home-grown film repeated on TV

2015-12-01 06:00

Due to the overwhelming positive response from the public after the screening of the Cape Town-based film Quest earlier this month, the film will be re-broadcast on DStv channel 263 and CTV this week.

Quest stars Portia Meyer, Zurayda Villet, Riedwaan Damon, Zintle Ntshoko, Maridi Jooste, Lizanne Peters and Meagan van der Merwe.

The film was co-written by locals Andre Manus and Theo.E.Davids, who is also the director. It is the result of a community coming together to help see the movie made.

Quest is a local story about what happens when a young drug-addicted mother has to sell her intelligent 14-year-old daughter to a drug lord to settle her drug debt. Eventually, the daughter manages to escape from her dire life as a prostitute, but the question remains: will she return home and forgive her now reborn-Christian mother?

The film will be screened tonight at 22:30 and on Sunday at 21:00. V For more information call 082 536 3651 or visit the Bridgetown Theatre Company page on Facebook.
