Homeless man caught in crossfire

A 42-year-old homeless man has been seriously injured when he was caught in crossfire on Tuesday 26 July.

The man was injured during a shooting incident which took place in Hilda Court, says Manenberg police spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett

“It is alleged that the victim, who was walking through the residential flat (block at the time), was caught in the crossfire,” says Bennett.

“Several shots were fired and the one stray bullet hit him in the groin.”

Police arrived on the scene and a 17-year-old suspect was pointed out as the person who fired the shots, Bennett says.

“The alleged suspect was then arrested and brought in for questioning and further investigation.

“He will be charged with attempted murder,” states Bennett.
