SA Entertainment hosted a Youth Indaba Park Jam in Eastridge on Youth Day, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and music and the arts as an alternative to social ills.

The free indaba took place in Fidelio Crescent from 09:00 to 17:00, with local artists including Craiig’0, BBoy, Easy E, YoungGoofy, Le-Lo Thee Illest, Scratch MarQ, Lil Meezy, King Antique, Tammy, Papi C Say, Sage, FYE, Muse, Mos_Common and many more.

Other entertainment included a jumping castle for the younger children.

Other artists from the area also joined the line-up as part of the open mic session.

Lorenzo Samuels of SA Entertainment says they launched the initiative last year in Elsies River and put on the event free of charge to the youth.

“We believe there is life beyond gangsterism and drugs among the youth. [The goal is] to change the mindset of the youth and young kids because they fall prey easily to drugs and gangsterism,” says Samuels.

They hope to achieve this by empowering the youth through music, dance and the arts.

Sponsors included Spur, Quicktrip Baker and the Firstlady of SA Entertainment
