Students from Trevor’s Kyokushin of Karate took home many accolades at the recent Champions of Karate South Africa full contact contest.

Karate South Africa - Full Contact is recognised by Sascoc as a federation representation full contact karate in South Africa.

Kaylin Stubbs, Jaden Marcus, Kayla Jefthas, Budlelwane Nginingini, Ammaarah Davis and Raeesah Isaacs all won gold while other students won silver and bronze medals.

These students now await their formal invitation from Karate South Africa to represent their country at the world championship in Bulgaria in December this year.

“These students have dedicated their time training every Saturday for the last few months in preparation of the South African Championship,” says sensei Trevor Rustin.

“It is again proven that through dedication, commitment and hard work, one can overcome all barriers. These students have competed against the best in the country and the Western Cape and although they do not have all the resources and facilities of their more affluent opponents, they none the less achieved great results.”

Stubbs achieved top honours by winning first place in the Kata or Forms Category.
